THE NEIGHBORHOODS OF RIO
Rio’s culture and society vary greatly in different communities. Each community has its own personality, including its landscape and different attractions . When choosing a place to stay, it is important to consider factors such as price, accessibility and style, because you can choose the most traveled place according to your favorite things (including nightlife), and live more, quieter or more comfortable.
Next, we briefly explain the most well-known:
Copacabana
It is the most famous tourist area in Rio de Janeiro. It is called “Princesinha do Mar” wich means “ little princess of the sea”, and has one of the most famous beaches in the world. There are many choices for hotels, bars, restaurants, night houses, and they can be easily reached by public transportation.
Leblón and Ipanema
They are the most expensive and are also very close to the beach. They are regarded as bohemian-style neighborhoods, full of life day and night. The beaches of Leblón and Ipanema are cariocas favorites and provide inspiration for many poets and musicians, highlighting the famous song “Garota de Ipanema”. ( The Girl from Ipanema)
Botafogo and Flamengo
They are cheaper and the transportation is very convenient. The beach is not very attractive.
Santa Teresa
This is a community where artists strive for excellence. It is located on the hill, so it is more suitable for use on the hillside. It also has many green plants and offers great views of the city. This is a bohemian neighborhood that offers a good choice of family and local cuisine restaurants. With its beautiful stone streets and the famous “Bondinho”, Santa Teresa’s street car , this is a nostalgic neighborhood that seems to have stopped in time.
Lapa
Considered the most alternative and eccentric neighborhood in Rio, it has a lot of nightlife with bars and terraces that fill up throughout the year.
Barra da Tijuca y Recreio dos Bandeirantes
They are located in the west of Rio de Janeiro. These beautiful beaches are not far from the city center. These beaches are generally cleaner, and there are fewer tourists.
Tijuca
This is a family-friendly area with a large area. The area is far away from tourist attractions, but the subway line from Uruguay Station to the southern area is very convenient. From there we can reach Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon, etc.
It is a cheaper and less touristy option.
